Types of Pressure Washers to Use for Driveway Art®

Driveway Art® Stencils are the perfect weekend project to bring some new life to the front of your home. By using the dirt that has accumulated on your concrete driveway, a stencil and a pressure washer, you’re able to turn your driveway into a work of art. Whether you choose a fun, organic stencil like the Mandala or Concrete Jungle, or you go for a more structured, architectural look with the CLT Links or Cobblestone, you’re sure to have fun with your pressure washer.

Pressure Washers range from handheld & electric to top of the line gas machines. You are able to use any pressure washer with our Driveway Art® stencils, but we’d like to give some recommendations.

PSI (Pounds per square inch) recommended range: 1300 – 3200. With a lower PSI, it will just take you a little longer to clean the concrete through the stencil. Most residential machines fall into this PSI range, but if you start getting stronger (like with a professional grade machine), it has a chance to be too much pressure for the stencil to withhold.

Types of Pressure Washers

HANDHELD: This compact design allows for greater mobility. It has a max PSI of 1900, which will still get the job done while being an affordable price. A handheld pressure washer offers the option of using 2 different water sources, either from a faucet or with suction from a bucket.

ELECTRIC: Most homeowners will find that an electric pressure washer is perfect for home projects. With PSI ranging from 1300 – 1700, you are able to clean cars, grills, and other minor equipment. These machines are light weight, portable and easy to store. Driveway Art® stencils work great with this pressure washer model.

GAS: A residential grade gas pressure washer is great for tougher but common household cleaning (decks, tougher mold removal, etc) . This PSI, 2000 – 3200, also works well with Driveway Art® stencils.

PROFESSIONAL GRADE GAS: These pressure washers are meant for the toughest jobs. Caution should be used when applying 3500-4000+ PSI to Driveway Art® Stencils as there is a chance that amount of pressure could break the stencil.

Most homeowners have their own pressure washer or are able to borrow one from a neighbor. However, if you don’t have one, did you know that you can simply rent one from your local home improvement store? Here is a link to pressure washer rentals at Home Depot to help get you started.

Now rev up that engine and start using your Driveway Art® Stencil. We can’t wait to see your masterpiece. Tag #DirtNeverLookedSoGood.
